What about pH?
The body is supposed to have a pH level of about 7.3, which is the measurement of how much acid and alkaline fluid is present in the body. The higher the pH, the healthier you are going to feel. A lower pH can lead to a number of problems including over-tiredness, decreased energy, increased sickness, weight gain, increased stress, weakness, and many other common health issues. In order to eliminate or prevent these types of issues from occurring, one must take the necessary steps to increase the level of alkaline that is present in the body.
There
are a number of things that can be done to increase
the level of alkaline in the body and
reduce or eliminate the many negative effects that an over acidic
body may be at risk for.
Smaller
portions
One effective strategy that can help you maintain a well balanced diet is to stick to smaller portions when you eat. Large helpings of foods can lead to improper digestion which reduces the bodies ability to fully absorb much needed nutrients.
Use healthier alternatives
Purchase the low fat versions instead of sticking to heavier versions of the foods that you buy. For example, instead of purchasing the regular sour cream that you might be used to, why not choose the low fat or even fat free version instead. By doing so you are choosing a healthier alternative that is going to result in less acid production in the body.Eat more side salads
One thing you can do to increase the level of alkaline in your body with every meal is to start off with a small side salad, which will ensure that you are always getting a healthy dosage of food that contains alkaline.Eat more alkaline foods
Often times the problem that many face is that they consume too many foods that are unhealthy. Foods that contain high levels of saturated fats, cholesterol, sodium, and other harmful substances often can lead to increased acid levels in the body when consumed too often.
One
critical step in an effective
alkaline diet plan is
to eliminate unhealthy foods that promote increased acid levels and
replace them with more healthy foods that promote increased alkaline
levels instead. Such foods include vegetables, reduced sugar foods,
nuts, whole grains, and other healthy items that contain all natural
ingredients.
Consider
sticking to the 80/20 rule which means that 80 percent of the foods
you consume should be alkaline and 20 percent of the foods that you
consume should be acid.
